Throughout the '70s, the Rastafarian movement flourished in popularity, both in Jamaica and abroad. Mainly due to the connection between reggae music and Rastafarian culture. The reggae was born of poor blacks in Trenchtown, the main ghetto of Kingston, Jamaica, who listened to radio stations in the United States. Jamaican musicians, who were mostly Rastafarians, soon merged traditional Jamaican folk music, American rhythm & blues and jazz in the ska, reggae that would result under the influence of soul. In the '60s and '70s, Jamaica's independence and democratic candidates that were more favorable to the claims of the disadvantaged, foster a more policy within the theme of reggae music of the urban poor. Reggae began to enter international consciousness in the early '70s, mostly due to the enormous fame of Bob Marley with his new reggae somewhat slower and adding woodwinds. Many rejected the orthodox Rastafarian Reggae music as a form of commercial and "sold to Babylon." The reggae and ska should not be confused with the sacred music of the Rastafarians, called nyahbinghi burru or drums, but also reggae musicians have been practicing and fusing.
Haile Selassie disappeared from the world stage in 1975, as there is nothing concrete about what was said about his supposed death say he was killed on the orders of Mengistu Haile Mariam usurper or dies from complications of prostate cancer, although it is known that years later Emperor's doctor denied that claim [citation needed]; Rastafarian movement scholars and believers in immortality were divided as to how to take his supposed death. Some believed that he had transcended mortal flesh and lived as a completely divine. Others believed that never really died, and that his death was created by Babylon or communism in Ethiopia (the term used to describe the current global power structure) in a theory popular among Rastafarians.
In 1992, his body (some versions say it was his bone) was supposedly found by archaeologist Haile Selassie namesake under a table in the land of his palace. Rumors to discredit the Rastafarian movement say they had been in the latrine of Mengistu is said that his body remained almost intact until his burial on November 2, 2000, when his supposed remains were taken to the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa ceremony which was attended, among others, Bob Marley's widow, Rita.
